The project focuses on reducing maternal and infant mortality and improving menstrual hygiene and reproductive health of adolescent girls and women in Ahmedabad district.
The project is operational in blocks of Different Villages in Gujarat. SHIVAM CHARITABLE TRUST is engaging and mobilizing women systematically at the community level and works with community leaders, existing Village Health Nutrition and Sanitation Committees.
Appropriate behavior change communications programmes, capacity building and technical assistance from SHIVAM CHARITABLE TRUST are being provided to push these efforts. SHIVAM CHARITABLE TRUST is working to systematically address the issues of deprivation and marginalization of women and girls from Dalit and Adivasi communities. It further focuses on building resilience in the community.
SHIVAM CHARITABLE TRUST is attempting to develop a much more accountable system at the community and local governance level and ensuring to work towards strengthening gender relations at the community level. SHIVAM CHARITABLE TRUST adopts a strategy of conducting a sustained mobilization and communication campaign to create awareness and behavior change. SHIVAM CHARITABLE TRUST is ensuring project efforts with government programs, community groups and on the campaign is synchronized with each other and will revolve around common themes of Maternal and Child Health; Tuberculosis control and HIV prevention.
The Trust arranges Educational Seminars for Health Workers and Doctors at the interval of every two months in a year. All the Educational Seminars are headed by Dr. Prakash Kurmi and the cost of the same is born by the trust.
To Control the expenses and expansion of Diabetes related problems in rural areas, the trust has started special project to educate one person from each village of Gujarat State for early control, detection and treatment of diabetes, cardiac problem and related disease and thereby to improve the social deficit in society.
There are approx 200 Volunteers who work for the noble tasks of the trust. They spread awareness amongst people for Tobbaco Free Environment, Basic Health Care and General Awareness. They visit various Government Colleges, Medical Colleges and Medical Hospitals for the same. They also participate in various Health Check up Camps organized by the trust.
